Youth Development is an important issue that impacts the nation's stability, overall development and standard of people's life. A lot of grants and resources are utilized to strengthen the capacity of young individuals to better impact the development process. The theme is to offer youth with options for capacity development and professional grooming plus seek their participation in social development. A number of foundations and agencies around the world announce various opportunities for youth on timely basis.

Here we have compiled a list of 7 new open international opportunities for youths and youth development from around the world. Agencies and programs like the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, Hurford Youth Fellows, Open Society Youth Fellowship, Humphrey Fellowship and more are seeking applications for their fellowships to travel grants to conference participation. Deadline: 1 October 2015

The Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program is calling candidates from experienced professionals interested in understanding about issues of common concern in the U.S or fellow's home countries. It is a non-degree program which offers valuable opportunities for professional development through selected university courses, attending conferences, networking, and practical work experiences.

Fellowships are announced in March the following year and Humphrey Fellows start their program in the U.S. between April and September of the same year, depending on the amount of English language training required. The Program ends the following June.

Fellowship Provisions

  • Payment of tuition and fees at the assigned host university,
  • Pre-academic English language training, if required,
  • A maintenance (living) allowance, including a one-time settling-in allowance,
  • Accident and sickness coverage,
  • A book allowance,
  • A one-time computer subsidy,
  • Air travel (international travel to and from the U.S. for the Program and domestic travel to required program events), and
  • A Professional Development allowance for professional activities, such as field trips, professional visits and conferences.

The Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program is administered by a Binational Fulbright Commission in 26 countries. In other eligible countries, the Program is in charge of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Eligible are countries are grouped according to their regions.

  • An undergraduate (first university or Bachelor's) degree
  • A minimum of five years of full-time, professional experience
  • Limited or no prior experience in the United States
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • A record of public service in the community
  • English language ability

Selection Process

  1. National Screening
  2. Screening by the Institute of International Education
  3. Candidate Review Committees
  4. Approval by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board
  5. Placement of selected Humphrey Fellows

Open Society Foundations Youth Fellowship Program

The Open Society Foundations invites applications for the Open Society Foundations Youth Fellowship program. The program supports young activists and organizers as thought leaders and allies in new youth-focused approaches to open society challenges.

Fellows will receive a stipend of $35,000–50,000 depending on experience and current income. The fellowship will also cover some travel and project costs related to the fellows' work.

The Open Society Fellowship was founded in 2008 to support individuals pursuing innovative and unconventional approaches to fundamental open society challenges.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. All applicants should be under the age of 30.
  2. Only individuals may apply.
  3. Foundation will consider applicants who are currently employed by a civil society organization or university.
  4. The Youth Exchange accepts proposals from anywhere in the world.
  5. Applicants should possess a deep understanding of their particular field and a record of successful movement-building initiatives, innovative project management experience, and/or experience in research/tools development.
  6. Applicants must be proficient in spoken English.

Application Process

All interested applicants should complete the online application form and submit supporting materials for consideration. Applicants may submit a project proposal or other materials in a language other than English, as long as they also submit an English translation. Certified translations are strongly recommended.

Climate Tracker Program: Be a Fellow to track UN Climate Change Conference in Paris

Do you have an ability to shape the direction of this year's climate change negotiations by creating change in your own country? Then this is an opportunity not to be missed!

The Global Call for Climate Action is looking for young, innovative journalists, bloggers, writers, activists and creatives for its Climate Tracker Program to become a Negotiator Fellows for 2015.  The major purpose of this program is solve the problems related to Climate Change. Fully-funded Fellowships will be awarded to the selected participants who will get an opportunity to visit Paris to track the COP21 climate negotiations.

The Climate Tracker program aims to support young and passionate people eager to write about the most important climate issues affecting their country. This includes a series of trainings with leading climate change communicators, journalists, strategists and practitioners working on the front lines.

Programme Structure

This year's plans include:

  • Global and regionally focused trainings and briefings on key moments and opportunities – in English, Spanish, French, Mandarin and Arabic.
  • 3 Global #Call4Climate Action opportunities to create a massive buzz around the People's Climate Mobilization flooding the media with calls for climate action that leaders can't ignore.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be 18 to 30 years of age
  • Applicants must be able to actively contribute to the Adopt a Negotiator project as a writer.
  • Applicant must be available to attend the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris and strategy development meetings in the days leading up to the Conference (30 November-11 December).
