AN INTERESTING RESEARCH POSITION

ThinkWell Global (formerly Institute for Collaborative Development) seeks a Health Systems and Policy Researcher who will provide technical and managerial oversight to ThinkWell's research projects around the world. The person in this role will directly perform research work, both quantitative and qualitative, and prepare documentation for publication.

We are seeking a distinguished researcher for a newly-created position leading ThinkWell's global Research and Evaluation portfolio. The incumbent will conceptualize, design, supervise and deliver upon a set of ongoing research projects. Examples of relevant projects include:
- A quantitative retrospective impact evaluation of a performance-based financing project in sub-Saharan Africa
- A systems and policy research project regarding participatory governance centered around Northern Africa
- Qualitative research on HRH motivation and retention
- Cost-effectiveness analysis of SMS reminders for HIV patient retention
- Studying the health system-wide effects of PBF
- Political analysis of scaling-up health insurance
- Developing and applying a new framework to analyze non-technical bottlenecks to scaling up universal health coverage (UHC)
- Program evaluation of a USAID program on health systems strengthening
- Process documentation of a demand-side financing voucher program

RESPONSIBILITIES
1 Provide technical and managerial oversight to ThinkWell's research projects around the world.
2 Directly perform research work, both quantitative and qualitative, and prepare documentation for publication.
3 Seek relevant conferences to present ThinkWell's work globally, submit applications, and deliver presentations.
4 Oversee regular and contracted research staff.
5 Collaborate effectively with various partners and donors.
6 Contribute to seeking/securing funding for ThinkWell's desired research projects to build the portfolio.
7 Serve as a member of ThinkWell's management team, providing input on and contributing to a wide variety of company business matters.

QUALIFICATIONS
1 PhD from a top tier research university. We will consider PhD students who have completed their comprehensive exams.
2 Health systems and policy research preferred
3 Track record of publishing peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals 
4 Strong global network in the health systems and policy researcher community
5 Minimum 5 years of full-time work experience, with at least 1-3 years of those post-PhD
6 Native or complete fluency in written English 
7 Interest and experience in mentoring and supervising a global research team

1 Proven ability and interest in fundraising for research and evaluation projects
2 Proven ability to conceptualize research that is timely, policy relevant, and of contemporary global interest
3 Ability to guide and perform quantitative and qualitative research using creative approaches
4 Proven ability to write and publish compelling, well-written research articles
5 Ability to process complex research findings into pointed, meaningful policy-oriented narratives
6 Strong presentation skills to diverse, global audiences
7 Willingness to personally perform data analysis and write manuscripts
8 Hungry to influence global agenda with meaningful evidence
9 Drive to challenge conventional wisdom 
10 Thrives on asking innovative questions and using innovative methods
11 Nurturing to junior researches, especially from developing countries
12 Open to and empowered by critical feedback
