Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard will be on travel to Burma until January 20 and will visit Bangladesh from January 20-23. In Burma, Assistant Secretary Richard will visit Rakhine State from January 16-19 to meet with state and local government officials, representatives of the Rohingya and Rakhine communities, and international and non-governmental organizations to discuss the political and humanitarian situation in Rakhine State, following her participation in the second U.S.-Burma Human Rights Dialogue in Naypyitaw January 14-15. In Bangladesh, Assistant Secretary Richard will meet with government officials and international and non-governmental organizations in Dhaka. She will also travel to Cox’s Bazar to meet with district and local officials, undocumented Rohingya and registered refugees, and organizations providing humanitarian assistance in the area.
