Assistant Secretary of State Evan Ryan Briefing: Open Doors Report on International Education, Student Mobility

Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Evan Ryan will deliver opening remarks at the 2014 Open Doors press briefing, held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on Monday November, 17, 2014. Along with President and CEO of the Institute of International Education Allan Goodman, Assistant Secretary Ryan will release the 2014 Open Doors Report, a comprehensive study on the latest statistics and trends in international and U.S. student mobility, including top countries sending students to the United States and top education abroad destinations for U.S. students.

The annual Open Doors press briefing serves as the kick-off for International Education Week, led by the Department of State and Department of Education, which marks its 15th anniversary this year. International educational and cultural exchange programs build ties between the people and nations of the world. The briefing will focus on the importance of international education in today’s global economy, in which international students contribute significantly to the U.S. economy and American students gain the skills they need to succeed in an interconnected world.

The remarks will be open to the press and will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Press should be sure to register in advance online.
