U.S. State Department to Launch "H2infO" Portal for U.S. Water Resources

The U.S. Department of State will host the launch H2infO, an interactive online platform that will deliver global access to U.S. experiences, best practices, and lessons learned on water and sanitation issues from across the public and private sector, on Monday, October 6 at an event in Washington, D.C.

Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Catherine Novelli will highlight the power of information and technology in addressing global water challenges in her keynote speech. In addition, the event will feature remarks from Ambassador Judith Garber, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs; Thomas Kelly, Acting Vice President for Policy and Evaluation, Millennium Challenge Corporation; Ambassador Hattie Babbitt, Chair, U.S. Water Partnership Steering Committee; Tim Prewitt, CEO, iDE; Chris Holmes, Global Water Coordinator, U.S. Agency for International Development; and Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie, President of the Crown Council of Ethiopia.

The event is open to the press from 3:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The on-stage portion of the event will run from 3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. in the State Department’s George Marshall Auditorium. Interactive exhibits demonstrating water technologies will be on display in the atrium throughout the event. Press should arrive at the 21st Street entrance of the U.S. Department of State. Final access time for press: 3:25 p.m.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
