The Governments of the United States, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden are meeting in Tallinn for a two-day, high-level Cybersecurity Roundtable on October 6-7, 2014. The United States head of delegation is Christopher Painter, Coordinator for Cyber Issues at the Department of State. Mr. Painter was joined by representatives of the Departments of State and Commerce and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Nordic and Baltic countries were represented by their respective ministries of foreign affairs, economics, communications, defense, and law enforcement for the interagency consultations.

The roundtable is being hosted by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was called for a joint initiative from the U.S.-Baltic Summit in August 2013 on cybersecurity issues. The discussions will address cyber stability and the emerging diplomatic agenda; Internet governance; national cybersecurity strategies; the economic dimension of cyberspace; strengthening cross border and public-private cooperation; law enforcement cooperation; and capacity building. The roundtable builds on the 3Baltics+USA seminar on “Enhancing Electricity Sector Cybersecurity in the Baltics” hosted by Estonia in May, 2014 to strengthen regional cooperation on critical infrastructure protection.
