Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Charles H. Rivkin will travel to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, from October 8-10, to participate in the Americas Competitiveness Forum, the Americas Business Dialogue, and the Pathways to Prosperity in the Americas annual meeting.

Assistant Secretary Rivkin and U.S. Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States and National Summit Coordinator Ambassador Carmen Lomellin will attend the Americas Business Dialogue's first meeting with government representatives. Business leaders from throughout the hemisphere will present private sector views in support of a focused and results-driven agenda for the April 10-11, 2015, Summit of the Americas in Panama.

Assistant Secretary Rivkin will also serve as the head of the U.S. delegation at the Pathways to Prosperity in the Americas annual meeting, where he will highlight winners of the Pathways Innovation Challenge. The challenge is a competition funded by the United States to discover, field test, and scale solutions by grassroots partnerships in Latin America and the Caribbean that have a proven track record in overcoming various labor and environmental barriers faced by many small businesses.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Bruce Andrews will serve as the head of the U.S. delegation for the Americas Competitiveness Forum, the hemisphere’s premier economic dialogue, on October 8 and 9. Deputy Secretary Andrews will deliver keynote remarks at the ACF Opening Ceremony alongside Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and the presidents of Haiti and Guatemala. Assistant Secretary Rivkin will also participate in this forum, which highlights the U.S. commitment to fostering greater hemispheric competitiveness and prosperity through trade and investment, integration, and financial and social inclusion.
