The United States strongly condemns today’s attack against MINUSMA, the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, which killed four Chadian peacekeepers and wounded 15 others. This is the latest of several attacks against UN personnel in northern Mali over the past week, including an August 29 attack that wounded nine Chadian peacekeepers. A total of 15 peacekeepers have been killed in Mali this year. The United States remains fully committed to supporting the efforts of MINUSMA to assist Mali in consolidating peace and security gains, advancing national reconciliation, and negotiating a durable peace agreement through the talks scheduled to begin in Algiers later this week. |
