[wanabidii] Graduate Internship Program - WORK TO LEARN SO THAT YOU CAN WORK TO EARN

Tuesday, August 12, 2014
Dear all (APPLICATION FORM ATTACHED)

BRIDGE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - WORK TO LEARN, so that YOU CAN WORK TO EARN

WHY IS BRIDGE NEEDED?
Less than 40% of over 100,000 tertiary education leavers find employment
in the formal sector. Most graduates lack the soft skills and experience
that employers are looking for. On the other hand, it is difficult for
employers to recognize the abilities of graduates without first working
with them. Graduates can build the skills and confidence required to find
suitable jobs or create their own businesses by working in different
organisations. However, it is hard for them to find the placements. Also,
most need guidance on how to use an internship opportunity to learn and
build a track record of good performance. The six month internship at IMED
is designed to create a bridge for graduates into salaried or self
employment by sharpening their skills and placing them as interns in work
organisations.

SERVICES OFFERED UNDER THE INTERNSHIP
The six months BRIDGE Internship Program offers the following services to
selected interns:
1) Placement in work organizations and guidance on demonstrating their worth
2) Assessment of personal talents, work habits and skills and advice on
appropriate careers and business opportunities
3) Training on being enterprising, learning, job search and interview
skills, CV preparation, communication skills, assertiveness and
confidence, personal discipline, letter writing, business opportunity
identification and assessment, preparation of business plans and raising
capital.
4) Reading books and guides on personal success and entrepreneurship
5) Information on job opportunities and guidance on applying for the same

TARGET GROUP
The program targets motivated certificate, diploma and degree holders in
different disciplines who are looking for jobs or intend to create
businesses.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE AND METHODOLOGY
Interns attend a one week intensive workshop at the beginning of the
program, before being placed in work organisations. After three months, a
recall workshop is offered before they go on to complete the final three
months. The training and ongoing follow up and advise focuses on
empowering the intern to build a track record of performance/become more
valued at the workplace, or prepare, create and operate a business. Those
completing the internship will receive certificates.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE AND FEES
Download application forms from www.imedtz.org or collect them from IMED
