PRESS RELEASE: MONITORING OF ENVIRONMENT FOR SECURITY IN AFRICA (MESA) INITIATIVE LAUNCH.
The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism in collaboration with the SADC Secretariat will be launching the Monitoring of Environment for Security in Africa (MESA) programme on the 11th July 2014, at Gaborone Yacht Club (Gaborone Dam) from 0800-10.00 hrs.
The launch marks the start of this very important project, which is being implemented by the Department of Meteorology and SADC Climate Services Centre on behalf of the SADC region.
The objective of the event is to raise awareness about the potential of using satellite earth observations for monitoring of the environment and its role in planning for food security and disaster risk reduction in SADC member states. The event will be attended by dignitaries from Botswana and the region.
