To increase the number of international students in U.S. higher education and encourage more Americans to study abroad, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs will host the fifth annual EducationUSA Forum in Washington, D.C. from June 23 - 25, 2014. Over 550 representatives from U.S. colleges and universities will meet with Department of State officials and over 60 EducationUSA regional educational experts and country advisers from around the world. The EducationUSA Forum offers practical information and strategies to help U.S. institutions expand international student recruitment, connect with students who would excel at their schools, and engage these students once they arrive on U.S. campuses. Workshop sessions will focus on traditional and virtual recruiting strategies, including recruiting students with disabilities and LGBT recruitment. Thematic sessions will also highlight signature Presidential initiatives, supporting foreign government scholarship programs, leveraging massive open online courses (MOOCs), and increasing the number of U.S. students studying abroad. EducationUSA is the U.S. Department of State-supported network of more than 400 advising centers located in 171 countries around the world. Each year, EducationUSA advisers provide millions of international students with accurate, comprehensive, and current information about how to apply to U.S. colleges and universities. EducationUSA staff also work with U.S. higher education professionals to promote international student recruitment and U.S. study abroad. Several of the forum’s sessions will be open for media coverage. For further information or to cover in-person, please contact ECA Press at ECA-Press@state.gov or (202) 632-6452. |
