Four female members of Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, arrive in the United States this week to explore legislative techniques used in the United States, as well as U.S. efforts to promote opportunities for women in public service. The members of Knesset will meet with their counterparts in the U.S. Congress and their staffs to see the scope of the legislative process. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, through the International Visitor Leadership Program, invites parliamentarians from around the world to the United States throughout the year to advance diplomatic relations and discuss domestic and foreign policy issues. In addition to Washington, D.C., the members of the Knesset will visit Annapolis, Maryland and New York City to gain perspectives on state and local government. They depart the United States on May 8. For further information, please contact the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at eca-press@state.gov. |
