The University of Dodoma (UDOM) vice chancellor, Professor Idris Kikula said yesterday that the establishment of ward secondary schools in has not helped to upgrade education standard in the country. He said the quality of education has been dropping apart from the increase of secondary schools in almost every ward in the country. According to Prof,. Kikula, when the government initiated the building of secondary school to each ward, many wananchi were thinking of good performance and improvement in the performance but so far things have not changes much according to their expectations. He added that so far there was no big improvement on the performance of students that could be directly linked with the establishment of ward secondary schools. He added that UDOM will maintain its standard by enrolling students who have recorded good performance in their final form six examination or other equivalent courses. Currently, UDOM is the largest University in East Africa. (Nipashe, Habari Leo, The Citizen, et al)
