Someone told me this story and it just occurred to me that this sort of thing can easily happen in a society where there is no trust between and kindness towards each other. People view kindness as something with a sinister motive.
Here is one person's story:
I stopped to help a lady with children stopped on the highway.
She had a flat tire and no spare and since it was a GM like mine, I gave her my new full size spare and changed it for her.
The next day her husband came by my place of work and wanted to know why I was trying to pick up his wife. She knew where I worked because I had my uniform on the day before on the highway.
I told her husband that I was not trying to pick up his wife that I was just trying to be nice.
He laid my tire down of the ground and told me "no one is that nice so stay away from my wife".
It's hard to be nice sometimes.
