  • Ever since Britain banned Miraa (Khat) from her consumption, we have had different reactions about the commodity in general.
     
    Whereas NACADA counts the commodity as a drug,farmers were unwilling to welcome politicians in the fight for the commodity that draws foreign exchange to our country.
     
    Hon.Ruto,our DP pledged to have lawyers funded to pursue issues to do with the commodity on one hand, while Muslim clerics called for a ban of the commodity immediately.
    Its only recently that news reports from meru had it that they are unwilling to trade on cows with the neighbors from the northern Kenya since they (northerners) do not want the khat marketed and sold among their people.
     
    Unless we approach soberly on the commodity, we shall not only deny ourselves with foreign exchange but limit our local economy (largely on barter ) to deny ourselves the benefits that cross from one region to the other.
