[Mabadiliko] English Pronounciation

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

2 words just came to my attention again today, again from our honourable reporters  at KTN Prime News, Nairobi.

Vehement   and    Real Estate

ve·he·ment

If one rejects something comprehensively, yaani kata kata, one is said to have rejected that thing: with vehemence or vehemently

1.
zealous; ardent; impassioned: a vehement defense; vehement enthusiasm.
2.
characterized by rancor or anger; violent: vehement hostility.
3.
strongly emotional; intense or passionate: vehement desire.
4.
marked by great energy or exertion; strenuous: vehement clapping.

The reporter said:     V-E-H-E-M-E-N-T
The correct way is:    V-I-H-E-M-E-N-T

Real Estate - Houses, buildings, land, property, etc.

The reporter said:     R-I-I-L      E-S-T-E-T
The correct way is:    R-I-E-L   E-S-T-E-T

I'm being pedantic (petty) here though. I think the reporter did fairly well.

Please practise it a few times and you will have it down pat.

Courage
