To All Moderators of the forums receiving this email.

One of your members, Nyamodi Ochieng Nyamogo has consistently and persistently defamed me in your forums over a very long period of time despite my giving him and you notice to sue him for the defamation.

Today, the same member has crossed over and now posted something which exposes him to criminal prosecution, of which I fully intend to pursue notwithstanding my notice to sue him civilly for defamation, which I shall equally purse at my time of choosing.

Please be advised your forum will necessarily be a part of any civil action that I may pursue and you'll be wise to do the necessary to ensure this member does not continue to defame me in your forums.

I'll, of course, take into account actions you take pursuant to this notice as shall the law if and when necessary.

King Mwanga II was widely reported to engage in homosexual relations before the British invasion.

Ugandan King Mwanga II was widely reported to have engaged in sexual relations with his male subjects, according to the report by NGO Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) "Expanded Criminalisation of Homosexuality in Uganda: A Flawed Narrative".

Ugandan martyrs were burnt to death between 1885 and 1887 on the orders of Mwanga II, for denying him gay sex when they converted to Christianity.

The SMUG's report is a response to the anti-gay bill proposal passed in Ugandan parliament in 2009, and is aimed to prove that same sex relationships existed throughout Africa, including the territories that now form Uganda, before the colonisation.

According to the report, a commonly cited reason for maintaining, or expanding, criminalisation of homosexuality nowadays, is that homosexuality is "un-African" or, in other words, a foreign phenomenon.

The research, however, showed that throughout Africa's history homosexuality has been a "consistent and logical feature of African societies and belief systems", and that Uganda's laws criminalising homosexuality originates entirely from legislations introduced by the British colonial administration in 1902 and 1950.

"This was not only an attempt to modify what the colonialists saw as unacceptable behaviour in the 'native' populations, but to stop 'moral infection' of colonialists themselves from the 'native' environment," the report explained.

These historical evidences support the theory that homosexuality existed before the colonisation and it is not a foreign phenomenon.
It was homophobia, not homosexuality that was introduced with the British invasion.

The report warned also against the criminalisation of same-‐sex sexual conduct as a consequence of increasing risks of HIV infection, not just among homosexuals, but in the wider society.

Raymond Byaruhanga, a doctor who runs the AIDS Information Centre in Kampala, said that a general climate of repression against homosexuals is among several reasons that HIV rates in Uganda are rising again for the first time in two decades.

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni said that life imprisonment is not the right way to "rescue" homosexuals from their "abnormality"

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni recently rejected the anti-gay bill.

The rejection of the law, however, did not mean a reversal concerning gay rights.

Museveni said that there are other ways to "rescue" people from their "abnormality", and life imprisonment is not the right method.

This means that Ugandan gays will still be persecuted and treated as abnormal.

Gay activist David Kato was brutally murdered in 2011 after Ugandan weekly Rolling Stone pictured his face and that of another man on its cover under the headline "Hang them!" The subhead read: "We shall recruit 100,000 innocent kids by 2012: Homos" and "Parents now face heart-breaks as homos raid schools."

[wanabidii] Tunahitaji chama kitakachopigania Unyerere, kupinga ubwanyenye

NIMELAZIMIKA kuendelea na mada yangu leo kwa sababu ya msukumo wa wasomaji walionitumia maoni. Ninashukuru kwamba safari hii maoni yamekuwa chanya. Sio kwamba wasomaji wote walikubaliana na maudhui yangu. La hasha. Nasema ni maoni chanya kwa sababu, hata kama baadhi ya wasomaji walinipinga, walifanya hivyo kihoja na kwa hoja, badala ya kejeli, mipasho na matusi. Huu ndio utamaduni tunaotaka kuujenga katika siasa za nchi yetu. Utamaduni utakaojikita katika kupingana na/au kukubaliana kihoja.

Tunataka pia vyama vya siasa vipingane kwa hoja na katika maswala, badala ya kupinga sura za wanasiasa. Ndio maana mimi ni miongoni mwa wananchi walioshangazwa, kushtushwa na kukasirishwa na tukio la washabiki wa CHADEMA huko Mbeya cha kubeba jeneza wakiigiza kubeba mwili wa moja ya wanasiasa wasiompenda, Zitto Kabwe. Hiki kilikuwa ni kitendo cha kihuni na kijinga. Wanachama na washabiki wa vyama watapata mhemuko katika harakati za kisiasa na wanaweza wakajikuta wanafanya mambo ya hovyo na ya aibu, lakini ni jukumu la viongozi wao kuonyesha uongozi na kuhakikisha kuwa, sio tu wanakemea matukio kama hayo, lakini wanazuia yasitokee. Tunapoona viongozi wananyamazia, au kuyakemea kwa sauti isiyosikika au hata kushabikia matukio ya kijinga kama haya inatia shaka juu ya uwezo wao wa kiungozi.

Katika makala ya leo naeleza kidogo aina ya chama ambacho tungependa kichukue mbadala ya CCM na CHADEMA katika muktadha wa itikadi na falsafa. Itikadi na falsafa ndio mwongozo wa chama cha siasa ndani na nje ya serikali. Nje ya serikali itikadi na falsafa huongoza chama katika kuibua sera mbadala na kupinga na kukosoa sera za chama kilichopo madarakani. Chama cha siasa kinapopata fursa ya kuunda serikali, itikadi na falsafa ndio huwa dira ya kutengeneza sera za serikali na sheria mbalimbali katika nchi. Ndiyo kusema, chama kisicho na itikadi na falsafa ni sawa na debe tupu ambalo litapeperushwa kwenda upande wowote pale upepo utakapovuma.

Chama cha TANU na baadaye CCM kiliundwa katika msingi thabiti wa itikadi na falsafa. Ujamaa ndio ulikuwa msingi wa kiitikadi na Azimio la Arusha ilikuwa ni falsafa iliyobuniwa kutekeleza itikadi hiyo. Pamoja na matatizo yake kiutekelezaji, kama anavyoanisha mwandishi William Edgett Smith katika kitabu chake cha 'Nyerere of Tanzania: The first decade 1961-1971, Azimio la Arusha lilikuwa ni dira muhimu ya kifalsafa katika nchi iliyotokana na viongozi wa kizalendo na ambalo halikusukumwa kutoka magharibi.

Baada ya kuachana na Azimio la Arusha, Chama cha Mapinduzi kimeshindwa hadi leo kuibuka na falsafa mbadala. Badala yake kimejikuta kikidandia sera za magharibina mashariki ya mbali. Kwa mfano, mwaka 2003 wakati wa awamu ya tatu ya utawala wa Rais Benjamin Mkapa serikali ya CCM iliibuka na mtaalamu wa kurasimisha biashara zisizo rasmi, Profesa Hernando de Soto. Mtaalamu huyu akaishawishi serikali ya Mkapa kwamba kurasimisha biashara zisizo rasmi kama vile mama ntilie, saluni za nywele, uchuuzi barabarani, n.k. ndio ilikuwa dawa ya umaskini. Ndio ulikuwa mwanzo wa sera ya MKURABITA. Hadi leo hatujui mafanikio yake yaliishia wapi. Hii ilikuja wakati serikali ikitekeleza mpango wa kukuza uchumi na kupungza umaskini (MKUKUTA) ambao nao ulinakiliwa kwa kiasi kikubwa kutoka magharibi.

Leo serikali ya CCM inatekeleza mpango wa Matokeo Makubwa Sasa (BRN) ulionakiliwa kutoka Malaysia na tunaambiwa mpango huu ndio kiboko ya umasikini na matatizo mengine hapa nchini. CCM haina tena uwezo wa kubuni falsafa za maendeleo na badala yake inadandia sera za mataifa ya nje ambayo mazingira ya utekelezaji ni tofauti kabisa na hapa kwetu na ni sababu mojawapo kwa nini sera hizi zinagonga mwamba kila mara. Kupoteza kwa mwelekeo kwa CCM ni jambo ambalo Katibu Mkuu wa zamani wa chama hicho, marehemu Horace Kolimba, aliliona mapema miaka ya tisini, pale alipotamka kinagaubaga kwamba CCM imepoteza dira. Kwa kuwa wakati huo kukosoa CCM ilikuwa ni sawa na kumchungulia mama mkwe, Kolimba alisakamwa na kuzodolewa sana. Lakini leo tunaona bayana kile ambacho alikisema Kolimba zaidi ya miaka ishirini iliyopita.

Chama cha siasa bila itikadi na falsafa ya kueleweka kitaishia kupigania madaraka pekee na mara kipatapo madaraka kitakuwa hakijui kifanye nini na madaraka hayo, zaidi ya viongozi wake kujinufaisha nayo kibinafsi.

Nilipojiunga CHADEMA mwaka 2005 nilikuwa na matumaini makubwa ya kuchangia katika kujenga chama kitakachoibuka na itikadi na falsafa mbadala na kuziba ombwe lilioachwa na CCM. Nimewaambia marafiki zangu mara nyingi kwamba sikujiunga na CHADEMA kwa sababu ya imani kwamba kilikuwa chama bora na ambacho nilikubaliana na misingi yake mia kwa mia. La hasha. Nilijiunga CHADEMA kwa sababu niliamini kwamba kwa uchanga na uchangamfu wake wakati huo nilikuwa na fursa ya kutoa mchango wangu katika kukijenga chama hiki kiwe mbadala katika nyanja za kiitikadi, kifalsafa na kisera. Na nilitoka CCM baada ya kujiridhisha pasi shaka kwamba chama hiki kilikuwa hakiwezekani tena kubadilika kutokana na ukweli kwamba kimefikia hatua ya usuguna hakiwezi tena kubadilika kikiwa bado kina serikali.

Mara baada ya kujiunga, nilipata fursa ya kukarabati itikadi na falsafa ya CHADEMA katika hatua mbili. Kwanza, wakati wa marekebisho ya katiba ya chama hicho mwaka 2006 ambapo tulifanikiwa kuitoa CHADEMA kutoka mlengo wa kulia hadi mlengo wa kati. Kimsingi tulikihamisha chama angalau kidogo kutoka kwenye ubwanyenye na kukiweka katikati pasipo ubwanyenye wala ujamaa. Kwa lugha rahisi Katiba ya CHADEMA ya mwaka 2006 ililazimisha CHADEMA kuachana na ubepari kwa kiasi fulani.

Lakini fursa muhimu zaidi niliyoipata ni mwaka 2009 kuelekea uchaguzi wa mwaka 2010 nilipoteuliwa kuratibu maandalizi ya ilani ya uchaguzi wa mwaka 2010. Kwa kutumia fursa hii mimi na wenzangu katika timu ya kutengeneza ilani tuliifanya ukarabati mkubwa sana kwenye msimamo wa CHADEMA kiitikadi na kifalsafa. Tulikihamisha chama rasmi kutoka mlengo wa kati hadi mlengo wa kati kushoto. Ni kwa sababu hii CHADEMA kwa mara ya kwanza ikaweza kuhubiri habari za kutoa elimu bure na serikali kujiingiza moja kwa moja katika kusimamia sekta muhimu kama vile kilimo. Kwa kifupi kupitia ilani ya mwaka 2010, CHADEMA kilichukua rasmi nafasi ya CCM ya Nyerere. Na hili liliwezekana kwa sababu CCM yenyewe ilishakimbilia kulia ikikumbatia ubwanyenye.

Mtu pekee aliyeshtukia ukarabati mkubwa wa kiitikadi na kifalsafa ndani ya chama ni Mzee Edwin Mtei. Ilikuwa ni katika Mkutano Mkuu wa Chama wa mwaka 2010 ambapo mzee Mtei aliniita pembeni na kwa ukali kidogo akaniambia kwa Kiingereza, ninanukuu: Kitila, you have put things in the manifesto which made me walk out of CCM (Kitila, umeweka mambo katika ilani ambayo yalinifanya mimi nitoke CCM). Nikamuulize yapi hayo mzee, akanieleza sera kama vile za elimu bure, serikali kusimamia kilimo, na akanionyesha sura kama mbili hivi katika ilani ambazo kwa maoni yake, na kweli ndivyo ilivyokuwa, zilikuwa haziendani na msimamo wa CHADEMA kiitikadi na kifalsafa. Nikacheka sana, na kisha nikamwambia Mzee umechelewa, hapa tupo kwenye Mkutano Mkuu. Ulipaswa kutoa maoni yako mapema ili turekebishe.

Nayaeleza haya ili wasomaji wapate kuelewa kwamba tulikuwa tumedhamiria kwa dhati kabisa kujenga chama chenye misingi ya kifalsafa na kisera inayoendana na matakwa ya jamii yetu. Kwa kifupi tulikuwa tumedhamiria kurudisha unyerere kupitia CHADEMA baada ya CCM kuutelekeza. Na kama ni usaliti huu ndio hasa ulikuwa usaliti na tulipaswa kufukuzwa kwenye chama kipindi hicho. Lakini tulipowakilisha katika vikao vya chama ilani ilipokelewa vizuri bila mjadala wowote mkali, na sisi tukaamini kwamba mapendekezo yetu ya kuihamisha CHADEMA kiitikadi na kifalsafa yalikuwa yamepokekewa vyema.

Hata hivyo juzi nimeshtuka baada ya kumuona Ali Mfuruki amekaribishwa kwenye mkutano mkakati wa CHADEMA uliofanyika huko Kilimanjaro na kupewa nafasi ya kutoa mada. Katika mada yake, pamoja na mambo mengine, Mufuruki alilishambulia sana Azimio la Arusha na kulaumu kwamba liliturudisha nyuma. Alishangiliwa vya kutosha. Viongozi wote wa juu wa chama, wabunge na wajumbe kadhaa wa Kamati Kuu walihudhuria mkutano huo na kumsikiliza vizuri. Ndio kusema sasa CHADEMA inarudi katika nafasi yake ya awali kiitikadi na kifalsafa, yaani mlengo wa kulia. Kwa lugha nyingine CHADEMA wanarudi katika asili yao ya ubwanyenye.

Sasa katika kipindi ambapo CCM hawana mwelekeo wowote kiitikadi na kifalsafa, na katika mazingira ambapo chama kikuu cha upinzani wanatamani ubwanyenye, tunahitaji, tena kama jambo la dharura, kujenga chama mbadala. Tunahitaji mbadala kwa sababu sera za ubwanyenyehaziwezi kamwe kufanya kazi katika mazingira ya kwetu zaidi ya kusimika unyonyaji. Sera za ubwanyenyehata hata huko magharibi zimeanza kupigwa vita. Sera za kibwanyenye lazima zipigwe vita kwa sababu zinagawa watu katika makundi ya wafanyakazi, wanaoendelea kumenyeka, na mabwana na mabibi wakubwa ambao kazi yao ni kulimbikiza mitaji na faida bila jasho. Mbaya zaidi wengi wa mabwana na mabibi wakubwa hawa ni wakala na makuhadi tu wa mabwanyenye wakubwa waliopo huko nje.

Tunahitaji chama ambacho kitakumbatia na kupigania unyerere bila aibu. Tunataka chama ambacho kitasimamia usawa, demokrasia na uzaleno kama misingi ya sera na matendo ya viongozi ndani na nje ya serikali. Tunahitaji chama ambacho viongozi wake watahubiri uzalendo wa kweli wa nchi na ambao watakuwa tayari kuifia nchi yao badala ya kuapa kufia vyama vyao vya siasa. Tunahitaji chama ambacho viongozi wake watatofautisha wakati wa kupanda na kuvuna. Tunahitaji chama ambacho kitaunda serikali ndogo lakini yenye nguvu na kuchukua nafasi yake katika nyanja muhimu katika kuendesha uchumi wa nchi na kuimarisha sekta binafsi inayotambua na kuchukua wajibu wake katika jamii.

Tunahitaji chama ambacho sera zake zitatoa fursa kwa sekta binafsi na asasi za kiraia kufanya kazi sio kwa hisani ya wanasiasa waliopo madarakani, bali kwa mujibu wa sheria. Tunahitaji chama ambacho sera zake zitawalenga moja kwa moja makundi maslahi katika jamii, wakiwemo wanawake, vijana, wazee, walimu, wakulima wa majembe ya mkono na pilao, wafanyakazi au wachuuzi.

Kwa kifupi, tunahitaji chama mbadala kitakachopigania usawa, demokrasia na uzalendo wa kweli katika nchi. Kama nilivyosema katika makala yangu ya wiki jana kujenga chama cha namna hii hatuhitaji mwongo mmoja kwa sababu kitajengwa na wananchi wenyewe kwa sababu kitakuwa ni chama chao!-

Naona joto la urais la uchaguzi wa urais 2015, limezidi kupanda kuliko hata nilivyotarajia, huenda hii ni kwasababu ndani ya CCM kutakuwa na zoezi la kumtafuta mrithi wa Kikwete tafauti na ilivyokuwa 2010 ambapo Kikwete alipitishwa tu. Pamoja na hayo, hivi uchaguzi ujao tuchague rais tukiongozwa na hisia cha uchama au za mgombea?

Vyama vyetu vyote vya siasa nchini vinafanana kimfumo, ingawa kisera vinatafaautiana. Kutokana na kufanana huko kimfumo, tukija kwenye suala la kuchagua rais wa nchi ni bora tukaangalia mtu badala ya kuangalia chama.

Kuchagua chama ni sawa na mtu aliyeambiwa achague kati ya Lila na Fila, au kati ya Coca Cola na Pespsi Cola; vinywaji ambavyo vimetokona malighafi moja. Ila waweza kuamua kumchagua mzalishaji badala ya kuchagua bidhaa husika sanjari na kumtaka atoke tafauti japo kidogo ingawa kimsingi hatoweza kutoka nje ya mfumo kabisa.

Kama kuna haja ya kuchagua chama[kwa vyovyote vile ipo], basi chama chenye utafauti wa kimfumo na CCM ndicho ambacho chapaswa kuchaguliwa. Itambulike, tunaweza kusema tumeitoa CCM madarakani si kwa kuingiza chama chenye jina tafauti na CCM bali kwa kuingiza chama chenye mfumo tafauti na CCM, kipo?

Huku nikizingatia hoja yangu hii, tuitoe CCM madarakani kwa kuzingatia moja kati ya mambo mawili. Mosi, aidha kitokee chama tafauti na CCM kitakacho weka mgombea bora wa urais kuliko mgombea wa CCM au kitokee chama ambacho kimejitafautisha na CCM kimfumo, tafauti hizo zionekane dhahiri kwenye katiba yake.

Kwa kuligundua hilo, ndio maana mimi binafsi nikija katika suala la uchaguzi wa rais wa nchi nimeamua kuwaacha wanachama na mashabiki wenzangu wa vyama vya siasa wachague mavi ya panya kwenye mchele, na mimi nitaendelea kuchochea kuni mbichi ili sima yangu ipate kuiva. Kwani sasa imeshakuwa dhahiri vyama vyetu vyote vimekuwa mithili ya moshi machoni au siki menoni au mlio wa miiba chini ya sufuria.

Uchaguzi ujao ni vema tuchague mtu badala ya chama. Kwa maoni yangu, kwa waliotangaza nia wote, na kama Sumaye ni mmoja wao, basi kati ya hao wote Sumaye ni mbora wao. Kama wagombea watabaki hawahawa waliotangaza nia, na kikitokea chama kilicho tafautiana na CCM kimfumo basi ubora wa Sumaye hauta fua dafu kwa chama hicho.

Dunia ndio hino hino, ambayo tangu kuumbwa kwake hakuna mja aliyeishi juu yake aliyefanikiwa kujitenga na siasa. Katika maisha ya mwanasiasa kila afanyacho lazima kilenge kuathiri maamuzi ya umma kwa maslahi ya huo umma na si kwa maslahi yake na chama chake.

Dhana hii yahitaji akili kubwa kuifahamu na ni njia ambayo yahitaji uthubutu na ujasiri hata uweze kuziruhusu nyayo ziikanyage, kinyume chake utashindwa kujitafautisha na mwomba chumvi. Mwomba chumvi aghalabu huombea chungu chake na si cha jirani yake. Hii ni falsafa kubwa, ipo siku nikipata wasaa nitaifafanua INSHALLAH!

UVCCM MORO YAMTOLEA UVIVU MALECELA

Kutokana na malumbano yanayoendelea kati ya Wanachama wa Chama cha Mapinduzi hususani Jumuiya ya Umoja wa vijana (UVCCM) kutokana na matamko yanayoendelea kutolewa.

Ni jambo la kushangaza sana kumuona Mzee Mashuhuri na nguli wa Chama cha Mapinduzi Waziri Mkuu Mstaafu na Makamu Mwenyekiti wa CCM Mstaafu kumuunga mkono kijana aliyekiuka katiba ya Chama cha Mapinduzi na kanuni za Umoja wa Vijana Paul Makonda kutokana na kauli yake ya kuudanganya Umma kuwa tamko alilolitoa la kumkashifu Waziri Mkuu Mstaafu na Mjumbe wa NEC ndugu Edward Lowassa kuwa ni la Umoja wa Vijana. Vifungu vilivyo kiukwa kikanuni na kikatiba ni vifuatavyo:-

Makonda amekiuka katiba ya CCM Ibara ya 14(4) Mwanachama yeyote atakuwa na haki zifuatazo "Haki ya kujitetea au kutoa maelezo mbele ya kikao cha CCM kinachohusika katika mashtaka yoyote yaliyotolewa juu yake. Pamoja na haki ya kukata ya kwenda katika kikao cha juu zaidi cha CCM kama kipo endapo hakuridhika na hukumu iliyotolewa"
Kwa kuwa kifungu hiki kinatoa fulsa kwa Mwanachama kujitetea juu ya tuhuma zinazomkabili.

Je Chama cha Mapinduzi kiliwahi kumuita Mh. Edward Lowassa na wengineo wote wenye kashfa za rushwa na kutangaza nia ya Urais kumhoji na kumsikiliza na Chama kufanya maamuzi? Lakini kutoa matamko kupitia kofia ya Chama ni makosa makubwa yaliyofanywa na Makonda na anapaswa awajibishwe. Tunamshangaa pia Mzee Malecela kuunga mkono mtu aliyekiuka haki za mwanachama na utaratibu wa Chama. Huu ni ukweli kuwa tegemeo la Wazee wa CCM kusimamia haki na wajibu wa Chama umetoweka.

Lakini pia Mzee Malecela anamtuhumu Edward Lowassa kuchangia harambee, kugawa tisheti na kutoa misaada katika nyumba za Ibada Kanisani na Misikitini. Mbona wapo wanachama wengi wanaofanya harambee kama hizo mfano ni Benard Membe, Sumaye, Samwel Sitta na January Makamba wao pia wanatenda matendo ayatendayo Lowassa mbona hawajatolewa matamko. Wametengeneza hadi na kalenda kama sehemu ya kujinadi mwaka 2015. Kwa nini hawakukemewa wote kwa pamoja?.Lakini pia Paul Makonda amewakashifu viongozi wetu wa dini kwa kuwafanisha na wasaka pesa kwahili tunamtaka awaombe viongozi hawa wote msamaha haraka,Vilevile ieleweka viongozi wa dini ni nguzo ya vijana wa taifa hili na uvccm inawathamini na pia tunatoa rai kwa mtanzania yoyote mwenye imani na roho ya upendo na wa dii yoyote kufanya kazi na viongozi wa dini na kujenga nchi pamoja nao,Je Mzee Malecela anaunga mkono Paulo Makonda kuwakashifu viongozi hawa wa dini?.Tulitegemea sana Mzee kama Malecela angekemea matendo haya kwa wanachama wote lakini ameonesha chuki binafsi kwa ndugu Edward Lowassa. Lakini hatupaswi kumshangaa maana hata Hayati Mwl Nyerere aliposema kama Mzee Malecela atagombea Urais narudisha kadi ya CCM,

Hatukumuelewa Mwl Nyerere alimaanisha nini lakini kwa sasa tumepata picha kamili ni jinsi mzee huyu asivyo na busara na anaweza kukizamisha chama kwa chuki zake binafsi na maneno yake ya kupotosha watanzania.

Mzee Malecela anapaswa kuomba radhi kwa Umoja wa Vijana wa CCM kwa kumuunga mkono Paul Makonda ambaye si msemaji wa UVCCM kwa mujibu wa Kanuni za Umoja wa Vijana. Wasemaji wakuu wa Jumuiya ni Mwenyekiti na Katibu kwa ridhaa ya vikao na maadhimio yaliyofanywa katika vikao wao ndo wenye mamlaka hayo. Lakini pia Makamu mwenyekiti Mboni Mwita amekana kutolitambua tamko la Umoja wa Vijana bali ni la kwake binafsi tunashangaa Mzee Malecela kwa nini anamuunga mkono Paul Makonda.

Tunatoa wito kwa Chama cha Mapinduzi kupiga marufuku matamko yote yanayoendelea nchini na kuwachukulia hatua wale wote wanaotangaza nia ya kugombea Urais kabla ya wakati na tunamuomba Mh. Mwenyekiti wa Chama ndugu Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete kukemea hali hii kwa nguvu zake zote ili kukisalimisha Chama na kuwepo kwa utii wa Kikatiba. Kuachwa kwa hali kama hii itakuza migogoro na makundi ndani ya Chama.

Transcorp, GE partner to improve power generation in Nigeria

Agreements will dramatically increase capacity at the Ughelli power plant in 2014

LAGOS, Nigeria, January 31, 2014/ -- Transcorp Ughelli Power Ltd (TUPL), the power subsidiary of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp), and General Electric (GE) have signed an agreement to expand the capacity of TUPL’s Ughelli power plant by1000MW over the next 3 to 5 years.

Both parties have also signed a separate agreement to rehabilitate the damaged GT 15 turbine at the Ughelli plant, which will add 115MW to the plant’s output.

Currently, the Transcorp Ughelli power plant generates 360MW of electricity, up from 160MW on November 1, when Transcorp took ownership of the plant. With the additional 115MW, as well as other rehabilitation works planned at the plant, output at Ughelli will increase to 700MW by December 2014.

The Ughelli power plant is Nigeria’s largest gas-fired electricity generation asset. Purchased by Transcorp during the 2013power privatization programme, the $300 million plant is part of the $2.5 billion investment pledge made by the Chairman of Transcorp and Heirs Holdings (http://www.heirsholdings.com), Tony O. Elumelu, CON, to deliver affordable, accessible power to Africa under the Power Africa Initiative. Heirs Holdings, Elumelu’s pan-African proprietary investment company, is Power Africa’s largest private sector investor and a major investor in Transcorp.

The agreements were signed at a closed door meeting between executives of both companies, led by Elumelu and the Global Chairman of General Electric, Jeffrey Immelt. They follow a cooperation agreement executed by Transcorp and GE in 2013.

Commenting, Elumelu said, “We are very pleased to work with GE, a proven world leader in power technology development, on the Ughelli plant expansion project. With this, we’ve taken a bold step in fulfilling our promise to Transcorp’s stakeholders and the people of Nigeria. In a very short period of time, we have achieved significant impact - power production has more than doubled, and with this agreement, we will see increased output before the end of this year. We are confident that this partnership with GE will further accelerate the achievement of our goals in the power sector.”

Immelt said,“ GE fully appreciates the confidence expressed by Transcorp. We are happy to bring the considerable resources of GE to support Transcorp’s audacious vision for Nigeria’s Power industry. This partnership with Transcorp underlines GE’s deep commitment to developing the Nigerian power sector.”

Response to Miguna Miguna's article titled 'South Sudan Crisis Due To Corruption and Tribalism' published on January 24, 2014 in the Kenya local daily

January 28, 2014 (SSNA) -- I have for some time till now, refrained from media engagement due to some personal verdicts but there are times when situations may dictate one to infringe on his/her own resolutions and use the violation to overcome some other challenges. Now is that time, when after a week of a very defaming, embarrassing, belittling and arrogant article with the above title was written by a Kenyan citizen and subsequently published by his media came into public domain both in Kenya and South Sudan and no citizen from my country took the courage to refute such falsehood. I felt obliged to response to these malicious and useless allegations by the so-called Miguna Miguna.

For those who might have come across such article, there is no useless thing that Miguna has not said about South Sudan starting with the government, people and even individuals. He made all the flagrant mockery of our leaders and our people using all the vocabulary that he has and one begins to wonder whether he was talking about South Sudan or a different country.

From the very onset for those who have read his article, you must have realized that there is a very wider disconnect between the title and the content of Miguna Miguna article. For instance, the title as it appears above was about 'corruption and tribalism as the root cause of crisis in South Sudan' BUT Miguna Miguna due to his epileptic condition turned to talk about the '9^th July, 2011 Independence day organization'.

This truly shows the malice intentions Miguna Miguna had against South Sudan as a nation and against the citizens of South Sudan as people. Not only that, again due to his paranoia, Miguna Miguna said and I Quote 'On December 3rd, 2013, South Sudanese President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, sensationally claimed that he had quashed a coup attempt by his former Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar, when many knew that Kiir was only trying to consolidate his iron hold on power ahead of what many South Sudanese expected to be a remarkable ruling party leadership convention a few days away.' Which calendar date is not true because in my recollection of events as they unfolded and as a citizen of South Sudan and someone who was in Juba when the crisis happened, 'President Kiir only talked about the foiled coup attempt in the afternoon of December 16, 2013 and not 3^rd as alleged by Mr. Miguna? This shows Miguna is operational on hearsays or even more on contractual basis to extent the falsehoods fabricated by the enemies of peace and stability in South Sudan. These are some of the few explicit mismatches that I can identified for you in his article but if you read through his whole article, you will find out that the man did not know what he was talking about.

For those who may not know Miguna Miguna, He is a man who is vast known for his controversies and conman behaviors starting from many years in Canada where he claimed to have been practicing law to the recent intricacies in the Kenyan politic between him and his employer Raila Amollo Odinga where he fabricated numerous falsehoods about Mr. Odinga in his book 'Peeling Back the Mask: A Quest for Justice in Kenya'. ABook that eventually tends to be different from its title as he largely tends to talk about Raila Odinga instead of comprehensive coverage of the injustices in Kenya.

Just to be precise, when Miguna Talked about the poor organization of the 9^th July, 2011 independence day celebration he had this to say and I quote 'Although the inauguration had been planned for a long period of time, they hadn't even constructed a mini-stadium for the event in the five years they had been in power under the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. Not had they thought of hiring a large tent for the occasion if they couldn't construct a stadium. The event was embarrassingly held at the Dr. John Garang de Mabior Mausoleum.'

This was out of the many quotes but as you also read a bit ahead to his article, here comes another contradictory quote from crazy Miguna Miguna and I Quote 'There was a huge white tent behind the Mausoleum, which was reserved for VIP lunch after the event. Surprisingly, the place was being run by the Ethiopian wife of a South Sudanese cabinet minister. All the waiters, cooks and servers inside that tent were Ethiopian. When we inquired why, we were shocked to learn, from a South Sudanese, that South Sudanese don't like working.'

Now, studying very critically the two quotes and I hope Miguna Miguna himself got to read this response, where he and many of us will find out that, there were indeed tents and many other arrangements were in place and not as portrayed by Devil advocate Miguna Miguna. However, the bottom line here and all of us need to know is that, when South Sudanese were celebrating independence on 9^th July, 2011, it was not to showcase what we had in term of material wealth but it was purposely to let the world know that, at last, we have our identity, our sovereignty, our own country and indeed our own image and that is exactly what was being celebrated on that day and not sitting in modern stadiums , eating barbecues, drinking Royal wines, wearing Italian suites and what have you etc…

On individual level, here is what I quoted from Miguna Miguna 'First, there were no acknowledgements, even from President Salvar Kiir, of regional leaders like Moi who had played pivotal roles in their independence. No mentions and no opportunity to address the gathering.'

Now, in this case, you could sense that Miguna Miguna emotions were overclouding his judgments because if this is not the case, then how many times have the people of South Sudan through their leadership led by President Kiir been thanking the people of Kenya and Moi in particular for ushering in the peace in South Sudan. Do Kenyans and Miguna Miguna in particular want South Sudanese to licks their feet in order for them to acknowledge that we have paid and have indeed given enough appreciation for whatever debts we owed to them and other foreigners who claim credit for our independence? I think we have paid enough for our independence and it is time Kenyans, foreigners and Miguna Miguna in particular leave us alone.

Finally, unlike Miguna Miguna who doesn't appreciate any little effort that comes from someone, I feel that, the last beats of his opinion are needed if we want everlasting peace to prevail in South Sudan. As South Sudanese, we need to protect the image of our country because the foreigners even those who pretend to be our friends when here are not what they tend to be when they are back to their countries and I learnt a lot during these crisis when I went to Kenya and I could watch on the Kenyan media particularly on the television some Kenyans who were successfully evacuated shamelessly claiming that their colleagues were looted, rapped and some killed and here one is left to wonder how a dead person could still give testimonies of such nature . Miguna Miguna is a true reflection of what many Kenyans and foreigners say about South Sudan and South Sudanese once they are in their countries. I am not calling for xenophobia but South Sudanese need to watch out. What pains me most is the hardship I had to undergo explaining to Kenyans that Foreigners were the savers people in South Sudan even at the backdrop of the skirmishes that unfolded in South Sudan.
